John Charles designer party / cocktail dress. Bodice is a purple chiffon and the skirt is a purple, gold and blue brocade. Cutaway shoulders with a high ruched neck that closes in the back with self buttons. Hips are ruched chiffon and the lower skirt is a form fitting brocade. Front holds a small bow with long chiffon streamers. Completely lined.

The only condition issue is a small section of fabric on the right breast side. The fabric appears to be a bit wrinkled, possibly due to steaming. I have photographed this area closely.

Label is John Charles, Made in England. The following information is provided courtesy of the Vintage Fashion Guild Label Resource page. John Charles was founded by designer Cherry Price in 1958, concentrating on special occasion wear. They were known in the 1970s and 1980s for party and dress-up occasion dresses that had a decidedly feminine look. Under the ownership of Regine Ellis, dressy collections are still produced for John Charles by designer Linda Warren.

Sizes are for various countries. D 38 Fr 40 UK 12.

Judging by the measurements below this would be closest to a USA size 4. Please check the measurements carefully. My model measures B34 W25 1/2 H35 and you can see how it fits her with no adjustments.
