Souvenir de St. Anne’s is a beautifully fragrant, light pink Bourbon rose with deep historical roots and old-garden charm. A sport of the beloved Souvenir de la Malmaison, this rose carries a similar elegance while offering its own distinct personality in the garden.
Discovered by Andrew Campbell, head gardener of the St. Anne’s estate near Dublin, Ireland, before 1916, this rose was later introduced in the United Kingdom in 1950. It was named in honor of the historic St. Anne’s estate, which is today remembered in part through public gardens that continue the legacy of rose cultivation.
Blooms are semi-double, softly cupped, and strongly fragrant, appearing in flushes throughout the growing season. The plant forms a medium to large shrub with a graceful habit and is well-armed with thorns, making it a striking presence in borders or informal garden settings. Notably shade-tolerant, Souvenir de St. Anne’s performs well where many roses struggle.
This is a rose for those who love history, fragrance, and anticipation; a living heirloom that reminds us the most beautiful things don’t bloom all at once.
