Iv been lucky enough to see some incredible wildlife up here in the High Arctic but I think this encounter was one of the most unexpected & special.

The sun has not set for months, (here at 74degrees North) so we have 24 hour day light. I was about to got to sleep at around midnight but then saw some movement on a nearby hill, I managed to capture this shot on the long lens and then noticed the Arctic Fox only had 3 legs.

In just a few months its going be 24 hour darkness & -40degrees again and this fox will likely be out on the ice hoping to pick up some scraps from polar bear or even wolf kills. Im amazed the fox been able to survive in such a harsh environment. I went to bed with so much respect for this tenacious, tough, curious & beautiful little fox and hope its makes its through the long cold winter.
