Crafted from Pinot Noir vines over 50 years old, the 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes from Domaine Château de Laborde is a powerful and authentic expression of one of Burgundy’s most iconic villages. The old vines, rooted deep in clay-limestone soils, yield naturally low quantities of concentrated fruit, resulting in a wine of depth, precision, and serious aging potential.
Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts, and the wine is aged in French oak barrels (about 25–30% new) for 14 to 16 months. This cuvée combines ripe, dark fruit with savory undertones and the structured, mineral frame that defines great Gevrey-Chambertin.
Aromas: Black cherry, blueberry, rose petal, forest floor, and subtle toasted spice
Palate: Rich and dense with dark berry fruit, firm but ripe tannins, and a deep mineral core
Finish: Long and structured with earthy complexity, spice, and a stony, persistent finish
Serve at 16–18 °C. Decant in its youth. Drink from 2026 to 2040+.
Pairs well with:
Roasted duck or pigeon
Grilled lamb with rosemary and garlic
Wild mushroom and truffle dishes
Mature cheeses such as Comté, Beaufort, or aged Époisses
Old vines bring concentration, texture, and soul to this wine. It offers a classic Gevrey profile—powerful yet poised—with real depth and cellaring potential. A must-have for Burgundy collectors and lovers of structured, terroir-driven Pinot Noir.
