Maggy Reeves was a couture level designer in Canada and her pieces are as rare as rare can be. It is a delight and privilege to be able to pass on a piece of her work! Especially when it is as beautiful as this dress and jacket is! Both the dress and the jacket are constructed entirely of silk and a silk metallic brocade. The bodice of the dress is a high grade silk in a deep mustard and the attached skirt is a luxurious silk metallic thread brocade that is just sublime. The brocade has little multi-color silk dots in it! The same brocade was used to construct the jacket. The dress is cut simply with a high neck and long cuffed sleeves and a simple cut skirt. The jacket has a tightly spaced double breasted front and a neat, small collar. The simplicity of the design really allows that stunning fabric to shine front and center. A jeweled belt slit low on the hips and adds an extra bit of glitz. It is all hand finished and has high end couture finishes. It is a superb example of her high workmanship and techniques and feels surprisingly modern. Excellent condition.

The dress is fully lined in a hand set, pale yellow silk. It closes with a hand set painted metal zipper. Each cuff closes with fabric covered, hidden snaps. The jacket closes at the front with domed gold toned metal buttons. Proper dressmakers buttons holes. The jacket is lined with hand set green silk. The belt has hook & eye to close and the jeweled piece is a brooch that can be removed.
