An excellent E.F. Payne fly rod, 9', 3-piece, 2-tip, built for a #6 or #7 line. This was the personal rod of famed reel maker Stan Bogdan. Very powerful action. Ferrule fits are very tight and the rod is pin straight. Weighs 5.9 ounces on my scale. The rod has been restored in a very professional manner, incredibly well done. In fact, I had a very hard time picking it up, the only signs being that the western-style grip has been cleaned and sanded and the reel seat has some small signs of use over time that are not quite consistent with the lack of wear on the wraps and varnish. And lastly, the "downstream" wraps on the mid were 2-3 turns shorter than the other side of the guide. Very subtle indeed. Medium flamed cane with a stunning varnish job and brown wraps tipped red with a yellow and purple edge at the keeper and the male ferrules. Bronze snake guides with only the tiniest amount of brassing to the inner surface. The ferrules retain 100% of the original oxidation. There is the faintest beginning of cracks at the ferrules. The correct rod bag, but has some holes near the top and is missing the hangtag. Correct Payne brass top tube with grey felt.
