John Carroll Kirby, a hot keyboard player from LA who has collaborated with Solange, Frank Ocean, and Shabazz Palesez, and who has also appeared at Fuji Rock, has released a new album in 2023 inspired by his days in Costa Rica, where he spent the year 2021. The 2023 work was inspired by his time in Costa Rica, where he spent in 2021. In the fourth installment of "Kirby's Gold," a series of interviews with local musicians from various regions on his YouTube channel, Kirby talks with local musicians, including the Costa Rican band Kawe Calypso, as well as the beautiful beaches and sunsets of the Caribbean coast. The summer mood of the album is inspired by the nature of Puerto Viejo, a town on the Caribbean coast with beautiful beaches and sunsets.The preceding single "Oropendola" is titled after a bird that woke him up every morning at 5:00 a.m. during his stay in Costa Rica, the Oropendola, and is a song by "Lion Milk," a Japanese-American keyboard player/beatmaker from LA who is also scheduled to be released on "Leaving Records. The song is titled "Moki (Mokichi) Kawaguchi" and is a perfect number for the opening of the album, which is inspired by a peaceful morning in Costa Rica with the pleasant flute tone of Moki (Mokichi) Kawaguchi. The teaser video currently being released also features model Kiko Mizuhara! It seems that she participates on an analog synth, so be sure to check out the video as well.
