What wine do you drink with salumi ("charcuterie" in Italian)? Lambrusco of course! Several red grapes are used in the production of this sparkling wine, and it is both a refreshing dose of bubbles, as well as a round, red-fruited, medium-bodied wine. This is the perfect accompaniment to any salumi platter, as well as truffles, cheeses, and just about any dish you can imagine.

This particular Lambrusco is made from 100% Salamino di Croce grapes, which take their name from the salami-shaped grape bunches that hang on the vines. It's a textbook example of the style, loaded with red fruits, a touch of rocky minerality, and a refreshingly dry finish that leaves you wanting more!

About the Winery

Hailing from the renowned gastronomic epicenter of Emilia-Romagna, Cantina di Carpi e Sorbara has production roots dating to 1903. This is when Cantine Carpi began crafting the typical Lambrusco wines native to this region. In the last decade they’ve joined forces with Cantine Sorbara (founded in 1923), where they’ve combined their resources to provide even more opportunities for cooperative farmers to make wine. In the early 20th century the cooperative system was very important given small individual vineyard holdings and the economic hardships of The Great Depression. It was nearly impossible for growers to produce wine for an entire region on their own. For over a century, Cantine Carpi e Sorbara have continued along those same lines and currently work with 1200 different cooperative farmers to produce Lambrusco in each of the significant DOCs.
